Cheney Real Estate Market
Cheney was named after Benjamin Pierce Cheney, and incorporated on November 28th, 1883. Benjamin Cheney was a director of the Northern Pacific Railroad and become one of the biggest railroad tycoons in the country. The city went through several names before it became Cheney. It was called Wilow Springs, Depot Springs, Billings and originally, it was known as Section 13. Cheney is right off of Highway 904, otherwise known as the Cheney-Spokane Road. The city is about 16 miles from Spokane. It is south of the larger city and like Spokane, is one of the cities on the eastern side of the state. If you enjoy the company of young people, Cheney may just be the town you're looking for. When school is in session, the town is buzzing with activity and there is still quite a bit going on when the school year is over. Cheney was incorporated in 1883.

As it is the focal point of the town, many things cater to the student body, but the art, culture and variety of things to do, as well as the fresh, exciting atmosphere of the town makes it very attractive to high-energy people.
The downtown historic district is one of the main features of the town as well, as the incorporation of the city dates back to the 1800's. The downtown area is only about four blocks from EWU. The downtown is going through a period of revitalization from a partnership between the city and the university.
